Breathing through the Bansuri has been Sameer’s chosen path since the age of eleven, when he began learning Hindustani classical music under Pandit Veerabhadriah Hiremath in Mysore. In 2002, he was blessed to become a disciple of the world-renowned Bansuri maestro, Padma Vibhushan Pandit Hari Prasad Chaurasia Ji. From 2004 to 2010, Sameer lived and trained under him at the Vrindaban Gurukul, Mumbai, upholding the traditional Guru-Shishya Parampara.

In 2010, Pandit Chaurasia Ji entrusted Sameer with the responsibility of managing and teaching at the newly established Vrindaban Gurukul in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, a role he fulfilled until 2012.

An ‘A’ graded artist with All India Radio, Sameer has performed across India and internationally in countries such as China, Switzerland, Germany, France, Australia, Spain, South Korea, Norway, the UK and the USA. He is an empanelled artist with the Indian Council for Cultural Relations.

His accolades include an ‘Award of Excellence’ by Guru Ganayogi Trust, Chennai (2004), ‘Nada Kishore’ by Nada Bramha Sangeeth Sabha, Mysore (2006), ‘Surmani’ from Sur Singar Samsad, Mumbai (2008), ‘Samskrithika Saarathi’ by Natya Taranga, Sagara (2024) and many more.

In addition to solo concerts and collaborations, Sameer composes for Music albums, Theatre productions, Dance bellets and Documentary films. He has released multiple solo and world music albums available on major digital platforms.

Based in Mysore, Sameer continues to perform, teach a few dedicated students, and serves as visiting faculty at Vrindaban Gurukul, Bhubaneswar.
